JAIPUR  | May 10, 2026– The 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League has officially entered its "danger zone," where every run and every wicket carries the weight of a playoff spot.

As of May 10, the leaderboard remains a crowded battlefield, with
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans leading a pack that is separated by the thinnest of margins.

The Statement Win: Rashid Khan Dismantles Rajasthan

The narrative of the season took a sharp turn on Saturday night at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The Gujarat Titans reasserted their championship credentials by crushing the Rajasthan Royals in a 77-run rout.

The victory was built on the back of a masterclass opening stand between Shubman Gill (84) and Sai Sudharsan (55), who propelled GT to a daunting 229/4. Rajasthan’s response was brief and explosive, led by 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, but it ultimately withered under the guile of Rashid Khan. The Afghan spin wizard's 4-wicket haul (4/33) effectively pushed Rajasthan from a comfortable position down to a precarious fifth in the standings.

Week in Review: Critical Results

  • Lucknow Edges Bengaluru: In a rain-curtailed encounter on May 7, Mitchell Marsh proved to be the difference-maker, helping LSG clinch a 9-run victory over RCB via the DLS method.

  • Hyderabad Holds Firm: Pat Cummins showcased his tactical brilliance on May 6, leading SRH to a narrow defense against a surging Punjab Kings side to maintain their stay at the top of the table.

  • The 264-Run Chase: Looking back at the season’s most explosive moment, Punjab Kings successfully chased down a historic target of 264 against Delhi, overshadowing KL Rahul’s massive 152*.

Current Leaders (The Cap Race)

  • The Orange Cap: Heinrich Klaasen (SRH) remains the gold standard for power-hitting this year, sitting at 494 runs.

  • The Purple Cap: Following his recent heroics, Kagiso Rabada (GT) has moved into the lead with 18 wickets, just ahead of Bhuvneshwar Kumar (17).

CHENNAI/MUMBAI — The 2026 Indian Premier League has reached a fever pitch following a "Super Saturday" that saw the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) break their losing streak and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) cement their status as the tournament’s most dangerous chasers.

Saturday Rewind: Centurions and Masterclasses

CSK vs. DC: The Sanju Samson Show

At a roaring Chepauk Stadium, Sanju Samson finally delivered the performance Chennai fans had been waiting for. Opening the innings, Samson struck a sublime 115 off just 56 deliveries, marking his first ton since joining the "Yellow Army."

Alongside 19-year-old sensation Ayush Mhatre (59), Samson propelled CSK to a towering 212/2. Delhi Capitals' response faltered early; despite Tristan Stubbs’ valiant 60, the Capitals were bundled out for 189. The hero with the ball was England’s Jamie Overton, whose clinical 4/18 dismantled the Delhi middle order and secured CSK’s first two points of the season.

PBKS vs. SRH: Punjab’s Fourth Straight Win

In Chandigarh, the Punjab Kings pulled off a high-octane chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Facing a daunting target of 220, skipper Shreyas Iyer showcased ice-cold composure. His unbeaten 69 off 33 balls steered Punjab to 223/4 with an over to spare. This victory marks PBKS's fourth win on the trot, placing them in a statistical dead heat with Rajasthan at the summit of the table.

Sunday Showdown: Rivals Collide

The action shifts today, April 12, to two critical encounters:

  • LSG vs. GT (3:30 PM, Lucknow): Shubman Gill’s Titans are fighting for survival in the bottom half of the table as they face a Lucknow side that has specialized in "last-ball" victories this season.

  • MI vs. RCB (7:30 PM, Mumbai): The "El Clasico" of the North-South rivalry. Both Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are reeling from recent losses to Rajasthan and view tonight’s clash at the Wankhede as a must-win to stay in playoff contention.

The Outlook: Battle for the Top Two

As the league enters its mid-way transition, the race for the top two spots—which provide a crucial "double chance" in the playoffs—is narrowing. While Rajasthan remains the gold standard, Punjab's momentum makes their upcoming clash with Mumbai Indians on April 16 a potential season-defining moment.

If Samson’s century provides the spark CSK needs, the "Yellow Army" could yet disrupt the current hierarchy before the qualifiers begin in late May.

GUWAHATI — The Rajasthan Royals (RR) maintained their perfect start to the 2026 IPL season, storming to the top of the points table with a 27-run victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI)

In a match truncated to 11 overs per side due to persistent rain, Rajasthan's explosive opening pair turned the ACA Stadium into a hitting gallery, leaving the five-time champions reeling.

The Onslaught: 80 Runs in 3.2 Overs

After a two-and-a-half-hour delay, RR was put in to bat and immediately shifted into "T10 mode." Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a masterclass in power-hitting, taking 22 runs off the very first over from Deepak Chahar.

The story of the night, however, was 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Facing the world’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, the teenager showed zero nerves, dispatching him for two towering sixes. By the time the three-over powerplay concluded, the Royals had already crossed the 50-run mark.

  • Yashasvi Jaiswal: 77* (32 balls) | 10 Fours, 4 Sixes

  • Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: 39 (14 balls) | 1 Four, 5 Sixes

Despite a quick double-strike from MI’s Ghazanfar (2/21), Jaiswal remained unbeaten to guide RR to a massive total of 150/3.

Mumbai Indians’ Top-Order Nightmare

Chasing a daunting 13.7 runs per over, Mumbai’s star-studded lineup crumbled under the scoreboard pressure. Sandeep Sharma continued his historic dominance over Rohit Sharma, trapping the former captain LBW for just 5 runs—marking the sixth time Sandeep has dismissed him in the IPL.

The collapse was swift and clinical:

  • Suryakumar Yadav (6) fell to Jofra Archer.

  • Hardik Pandya (9) was caught at long-on off the bowling of Ravi Bishnoi.

  • Tilak Varma (14) holed out to deep mid-wicket.

Sherfane Rutherford briefly kept MI in the hunt with a rapid-fire 25 off 8 balls, including two massive sixes. However, a sensational diving catch by Sandeep Sharma ended his cameo, effectively sealing the game. Mumbai finished at 123/9.

A superb maiden ODI century by Tanzid Hasan guided Bangladesh national cricket team to a challenging total of 290 for 5 against Pakistan national cricket team in the decisive third ODI at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

After being asked to bat first, Bangladesh built their innings around Tanzid’s composed 107 off 107 balls, the left-hander’s first century in One-Day Internationals. The 23-year-old opener struck seven sixes and six fours, providing the backbone of the hosts’ innings before falling to Abrar Ahmed.

Bangladesh made a strong start through a 105-run opening partnership between Tanzid and Saif Hassan. Saif contributed 36 before he was bowled by pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi.

In the middle order, Litton Das added 41, although he struggled to accelerate after an early reprieve. The innings gained further momentum late on as Towhid Hridoy played a brisk unbeaten knock of 48 from 44 balls.

Pakistan’s bowlers tightened their grip in the closing overs. Fast bowler Haris Rauf struck twice in consecutive deliveries in the 47th over, dismissing Litton and removing Rishad Hossain for a golden duck, restricting Bangladesh below the 300-run mark.

Match Situation (Live)

In reply, Pakistan are 224 for 7 in 41.4 overs and require 67 runs from 50 balls to win. With the three-match ODI series level at 1–1, the contest remains finely poised as the match heads into the final overs.
