Osman Hadi Shooting: Police Identify Suspect, Seek Public Assistance

Dhaka: Police have identified one suspected individual in connection with the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, a prospective independent candidate in the 13th national parliamentary election.

The suspect was identified after reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras, according to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

In a press statement issued on Saturday, the DMP said law enforcement agencies are continuing their operation to track down those responsible for the attack.

Police have urged the public to come forward with any information related to the identified suspect, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.

The DMP provided three contact numbers for sharing information: 01320040080 (Deputy Commissioner, Motijheel Division), 01320040132 (Officer-in-Charge, Paltan Police Station), and the national emergency helpline 999.

Osman Hadi, convener of the platform Inqilab Mancha, was shot on Friday afternoon on Box Culvert Road in the capital’s Puran Paltan area, a day after the election schedule was announced.

He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition before being transferred to Evercare Hospital for advanced treatment.

Inqilab Mancha officials said Hadi remains in a critical state and that his condition cannot be conclusively assessed until at least 48 hours have passed.
