The Middle East conflict between Iran and Israel, supported by the United States, entered its second week on Saturday, with escalating airstrikes, missile launches, and rising regional tensions.

US President Donald Trump stated that there would be no negotiations with Tehran unless Iran agrees to “unconditional surrender.” Meanwhile, Iran continued firing missiles and drones across the region, and Israel carried out large-scale bombing operations inside Iranian territory.

Israel Strikes Key Military Sites in Tehran

The Israel Defense Forces reported that over 80 fighter jets conducted pre-dawn strikes targeting strategic locations in and around Tehran. According to military sources, the attacks hit the Imam Hossein Military University, missile storage facilities, underground bunkers, command centers, and launch sites in central and western Iran.

Video footage from the capital showed explosions and plumes of smoke, with flames observed at Mehrabad Airport, one of Iran’s main domestic aviation hubs. Iranian authorities claimed the airport was targeted, though independent confirmation of the damage is pending.

Iran Launches Missiles and Drones Across the Region

In response, Iran fired missiles and deployed drones toward Israel and Gulf states. Israeli officials reported that most of the 10 missiles and several drones launched overnight were intercepted by air defense systems, and debris fell in Israel’s Asher Region without causing injuries.

Several Gulf countries also reported threats. The UAE’s air defense systems intercepted incoming missiles, while Saudi forces shot down multiple drones targeting the Shaybah oil field. In Bahrain, sirens were sounded, and residents were directed to seek safety as air defenses intercepted missiles and drones.

Casualties Mount in Iran and Lebanon

The conflict has caused significant human and material losses. Iranian media reported that more than 1,200 people were killed during the first week of US-Israeli airstrikes. Civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings and a facility associated with the Iranian Red Crescent, has been damaged.

In Lebanon, Israeli strikes targeted Hezbollah positions in Beirut, killing over 200 people and wounding hundreds. Two UN peacekeepers from Ghana were critically injured in missile attacks while serving with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon.

US Military Operations Continue

The United States Central Command reported that US forces have targeted more than 3,000 sites inside Iran since the campaign began. Six US service members killed during the conflict are scheduled for a formal transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, which President Trump and Vice President JD Vance are expected to attend.

Travel and Energy Disruptions

The ongoing war is disrupting air travel and global energy markets. Airlines in the UAE, Qatar, and Oman are operating limited evacuation flights to assist stranded travelers. Analysts warn that attacks near critical oil infrastructure could push global fuel prices higher.

Risk of Wider Regional Escalation

With ongoing missile exchanges and troop mobilizations across Iran, Israel, Lebanon, and Gulf states, experts warn that the conflict risks further escalation unless diplomatic interventions succeed in halting the violence.
