Sara Netanyahu has highlighted the issue of online abuse targeting children, speaking at an international education summit held in Washington, D.C.
The event, hosted by Melania Trump, brought together global representatives to discuss how education systems can better support and protect young people in an increasingly digital world.
Netanyahu emphasized that children today face complex challenges online and require active guidance from parents, educators, and policymakers.
Referring to her own family, she said her sons had experienced harassment and public shaming because of their association with Benjamin Netanyahu. She argued that children should never be targeted due to their parents’ public roles and called for stronger efforts to prevent both online and offline abuse.
Her remarks come as her eldest son, Yair Netanyahu, continues to attract criticism for his outspoken social media activity. His posts have often sparked controversy and led to disputes with public figures in Israel and abroad.
In one instance last year, Yair accused senior military officials, including Eyal Zamir, of attempting to undermine the government—comments that drew significant backlash and further fueled political debate.
The summit focused on promoting safer learning environments and ensuring that digital spaces become more responsible and supportive for children worldwide.
