Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that Israel will continue to protect its strategic interests while the United States and Iran explore possible peace negotiations.
Speaking on Monday, Netanyahu confirmed that military operations against Iran and Hezbollah will continue until a comprehensive agreement is reached, according to reports by The Jerusalem Post.
“We will safeguard our vital interests under all circumstances,” Netanyahu said, emphasizing ongoing strikes against Iran’s missile and nuclear programs as well as Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.
He added that recent operations had targeted key figures involved in Iran’s nuclear program.
Trump Signals Diplomatic Opportunity
US President Donald Trump expressed cautious optimism about discussions with Iran, describing the last two days of talks as “very good and productive” and aimed at achieving a long-term resolution to hostilities in the Middle East.
However, Tehran quickly denied that any direct negotiations with Washington had taken place. An Iranian source cited by the Fars News Agency stated that no contact occurred, even through intermediaries, and claimed the US had threatened to strike critical energy infrastructure in the region.
Tensions Remain High
The differing statements highlight the volatile and unpredictable situation in the Middle East. While Washington signals a willingness for diplomacy, Israel continues targeted strikes against Iran and Hezbollah, raising concerns of further escalation.
Experts warn that, despite hopeful rhetoric from both sides, the lack of verified dialogue leaves the region on edge, with no clear path to an immediate resolution.
